BIO
“Staring the forgotten, hidden things in the face” and shining a light in the deep, dark corners of the soul is a favorite past-time of Stevie’s. And blossoming from the fertile ground of her self-exploration, her debut ep, ‘Petalsʼ— a collection of lo-fi bedroom-pop songs, buried in layers of dreamy synths and textures and her newly released follow-up ep, ‘inner child.’
collaborating with producer, Brendyn 'Rusti' Rossouw, they safeguard the vulnerability kin captures as she writes and records the demos in the intimate space of her bedroom. Weaving the raw performances from her demos into the final record is what gives both ‘Petalsʼ and ‘inner child’ their low-fi and cut-to-the-heart honest sound, an open door to Kinʼs own room where she is shining a light onto her soul.

“There’s a definitive dream vibe to the latest Stevie Kin video for ‘Tough.’ The grainy, black-and-white piece is a simple affair, putting Kin in a barren field with a roaming light casting a wandering shadow as she slowly dances in an oversized suit David Byrne would be proud of.”

“The EP itself isn’t so much ‘60s yé-yé pop as it is moody, melancholic indie: the intimate, self-contained songs are far more reminiscent of Cat Power or Karen O’s Crush Songs than Françoise Hardy or Brigitte Bardot.”
